Our Mission
Sunset Valley Elementary PTA (SVES PTA) was created when the school opened, in 2016. Our mission aligns with that of Texas PTA and National PTA:
To make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

SVES PTA is a volunteer-led, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exists to support the students, families, and staff of Sunset Valley Elementary School. We help the school engage and connect the community, organize efforts to support staff well-being, and fundraise to help expand the school's capacity to provide for its students.
SVES PTA is led by an executive board made up of parents just like you! This is the way we choose to support Sunset Valley Elementary. PTA membership and board positions are open to anyone who wants to be involved. Board elections are held each spring. In accordance with National PTA's Diversity and Inclusion Policy, we welcome a diversity of views, experiences, cultural heritage/traditions, skills/abilities, values and preferences.
Who can join SVES PTA?

Anyone! Parents, grandparents, students, siblings, teachers, other family members, friends, and community members are all welcome to join. Membership fees (currently $11) help fund all of the events and ways we give back to students, staff, and families at SVES. A link to join is on the Calendar & Important Links page.
Do I have to volunteer?
Do I have to volunteer?
No! While we'd love your support and there are plenty of volunteer opportunities if you can spare some time, joining the PTA does not commit you to volunteer hours or anything else. If you'd like to let us know you're open to volunteering, submit your information on the Connect With Us page and we'll be in touch when we need some help!

Attending our general PTA meetings is another great way to participate. See the calendar on the Calendar & Important Links page for upcoming meeting dates. They are also announced on our Facebook page and in the school newsletter.
Want to dig deeper? Every spring we hold elections for PTA board positions, and we welcome you to run! Review the SVES PTA Leadership page and email us for more information.
If you're able to spend some time helping out around SVES, there are opportunities available throughout the year--from an hour here and there setting up for an event to several hours at a time helping out with a fundraiser. We can also always use volunteers who are able to help us pick up donations from surrounding businesses and bring them to the school. Submit your information on the Connect With Us page and we'll be in touch when we need some help!
